Unique 'Pain-Free' Alexandrite & Nd:YAG Hair Removal Laser 

The new Motus AY is the world’s first and only 'pain-free' laser hair removal platform to deliver the two gold-standard lasers in this field - TRUE Alexandrite & Nd:YAG.

For the first time, practitioners can now deliver the efficacy of the Alexandrite laser on ALL skin types (1 - 6); not just the traditional 1 - 3. Using a specialist 'Moveo’, technology the Motus AY concentrates the energy of an Alexandrite laser, delivering it through a unique 20mm contact-cooled sapphire tip with ultra-short pulse durations (2ms) - ideal for treating more challenging fine and fair hair. 

The additional Nd:YAG laser can also be used in the 'Moveo' hair removal mode, or alternatively, in a traditional long-pulsed mode for treatment of deep vessels.

MOVEO Technology

Moveo is a unique laser technology based on 4 fundamental concepts: effectiveness, speed, safety and simplicity.

Like most other hair removal lasers, the Alexandrite 755nm laser is traditionally delivered in a shot shot-by-shot method. This universal method of laser delivery sees the Alexandrite lose a vast amount of energy during treatments, sometimes as high as 32%. This traditional procedure can also be a slow and sometimes, very uncomfortable treatment.

For the first time, practitioners can now treat every client, regardless of skin type, using a specialist Alexandrite 755nm 'Moveo Pain-Free' laser technology. This new and unique innovation works by delivering the Alexandrite laser at an ultra-high repetition rate, using a large 20ml contact-cooled sapphire tip which stays in continuous contact with the skin. This dramatically reduces the energy that is typically reflected by the skin when using a standard Alexandrite laser. This, therefore, allows lower fluences (energy) to achieve the target temperature required for clinically-effective, long-term hair removal results.

The Science

The UK Aesthetics industry has witnessed a surge in consumer demand for “pain-free” laser hair removal treatments in recent years. 'Pain-Free’ laser treatments, usually using a diode laser in a gradual heating method can be a much slower process than traditional high-powered laser treatment, (e.g. true Alexandrite 755nm) - until now.

The Moveo handpiece and sapphire chill tip are available for both the Alexandrite 755nm & Nd:YAG 1064nm laser applications of the Motus, but it is with the Alexandrite laser that Moveo Technology exhibits the extent of this extraordinary innovation. The skin largely reflects the energy emitted by a laser system with wavelength visible and near-infrared radiation. The graph below shows the reflectivity of the skin at various wavelengths and melanin content.

For instance, the 755 nm Alexandrite laser wavelength demonstrates the percentage of reflection with melanin content of 8% (corresponds to phototype III) is over 50%. This is a significant portion of energy lost during the treatment, which cannot be used for therapeutic purposes. This is due to the high variation of reflectance between the skin and the surrounding air. The Moveo handpiece was designed to solve this problem - differentiating it from any other laser technology on the planet.
